Verizon "SELL LOSS" Tumblr to parent company WordPress!

Bandung, Indonesia.-- Verizon has approved plans to sell TUMBLR to its parent WordPress company, which is Automattic Inc. The Wall Street Journal writes companies do not uncover The value of TUMBLR sales.

However, there's news that Automattic will buy TUMBLR at a price of less than US $3 million or about Rp42,7 billion -- away from the numbers when Verizon acquires Tumblr on 2017 from Yahoo. According to Axios, a very high decrease in value of US $1.1 billion paid by Yahoo in 2013.

"Tumblr is a brand that has begun to move, allowing a true identity to grow and be home to many creative communities and fandoms," said Verizon Media CEO, Master Gowrappan in a statement.

"We are proud of what the team has accomplished and are pleased to have found the perfect partner at Automattic, whose expertise and track record will open new and exciting possibilities for TUMBLR and its users. "

Tumblr was once a very influential force in the field of blogging and social media, but became less so prominent under Yahoo and then taken over by Verizon.

Meanwhile, platforms like Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube move to fill the void and become a much larger cultural force as a result. Nevertheless, TUMBLR does have a very active and dedicated community.

This dedicated user was seen when Verizon's leadership decided to ban adult content on the platform in December. TUMBLR acts as a safe place for many LGBTQ members who use this platform to explore and express their sexuality and to find online communities that share the same interests.

The decision to prohibit all types of adult content caused many people to boycott the site, and the ban alienated most of TUMBLR's user bases. Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg told the Journal his party had no plans to change the decision.

Instead, TUMBLR will act as a complementary site for WordPress.

"It's just fun," Mullenweg says to the Journal.  "We will not change it all. "

One part of being a complement to WordPress is the possibility of sharing services and functionality, according to the report. TUMBLR has a mobile interface that executives can use to leverage its own WordPress mobile platform.
